SMS Messaging Program
MendU sends automated SMS notifications to patients enrolled by their surgical practice. Here is how we protect patients and ensure transparency.
Provider-initiated enrollment. Patients are enrolled by their healthcare provider during the care planning process and provide explicit HIPAA SMS authorization consent.
Message content. SMS notifications include appointment reminders, pre-operative preparation instructions, post-operative care guidance, recovery milestones, and clinical survey links.
PHI is never sent via SMS. All protected health information is delivered through secure, encrypted HTTPS links with time-limited access tokens. SMS messages contain only non-PHI notifications.
Opt-out at any time. Patients can reply STOP to any message to immediately opt out of all future SMS communications. Opt-out requests are processed automatically.
Standard rates apply. Standard message and data rates may apply depending on the patient's mobile carrier and plan.
